Abstract: We study the stability of a damped Duffing oscillator by employing a renormalization group method for solving nonlinear differential equations. This approach is direct and makes the study of the amplitude equation smooth, obvious, and not based on any initial ansatz for the periodic form of the final solution. An introduction to the renormalization method is given.
